Here are the meanings of each Digimon 01 and 02 Character's names, this got retrieved from Megchan's Digimon Sekai website by another fanfiction.net author who is BenignUser and put it on a single post on another forum.
Jyou's last name, Kido, means "Castle Door," Jyou, means "Stature."
Taichi's last name, Yagami, means "Eight Gods," and his first name is a popular boys name written with the character "Thick" and the number "One."
Sora's last name, Takenouchi, means "Home of the Warrior," and her first name, Sora, means "Sky."
Yamato's last name, "Ishida," means "Rock Rice Paddy." Although his first name is written in katakana and not kanji, there is only one meaning for Yamato. It is the ancient name of Japan and is a very patriotic name for boys.
Koushiro's last name, Izumi, means "A Spring," and his first name means "Light Child."
Mimi's last name, Tachikawa, means "Big Sword River." Her first name is written in katakana, not kanji, so there is no way to know for sure what her name means, but the name Mimi is often written with the characters for "Beauty" and "Truth."
Takeru's last name, Takaishi, means "Tall Rock." Takeru means "mountain."
Hikari's last name, Yagami, means "Eight Gods." Although her first name is written in katakana and not in kanji, there is only one meaning for Hikari, "Light."
The characters for Miyako's last name, Inoue, mean "Above the Well" and her first name means "Capitol."
The characters for Daisuke's last name, Motomiya, mean "True Shrine" and his first name means "Big Help."
The characters for Iori's last name, Hida, mean "Fire Rice Paddy" and his first name means "Cloth."
The characters for Ken's last name, Ichijouji, mean "First Temple" and his first name means "Intelligent."

Actually, I took the kanji of the 02 names to my Japanese teacher and what she said was quite different. I've copyied and pasted this from an article of a site that I tried to write ages ago and am thinking of deleting most of. I'll see what I can do about asking for the adventure names.
本宮 大輔
Motomiya Daisuke
Okay then, the first Kanji simbol means 'book'. The Second means shrine meaning that Motomiya means 'book shrine'. The first symbol of the given name means 'big' and the second is just part of the name so Daisuke means 'big'. Fits okay, in terms of personality.
高石 タケル
Takaishi Tekeru
The first symbol means 'high' and the second means 'stone'. Taikaishi means 'high stone'. I'm sorry but my Japanese teacher didn't know about Takeru as it's in katakana so it could mean many things.
八神 ヒカリ
Yagami Hikari
The first symbol means 'eight' and the second means 'god'. Hikari always means light altough I coundn't get the kanji. *sigh* Oviouslly a reference to her crest.
井ノ上 京
Inoue Miyako
The first symbol means 'well' as in the water pully outy well then we have a katakana 'no' if you must know. Next symbol means 'above'. Inoue means 'well above'. Miyako being one symbol is a city. You may have heard of it actually.
火田 伊織
Hida Iori
The first two: Hida means 'vegatable field'. The first symbol of Iori means 'make a cloth' but in a wierd sort of way that I didn't understand. The next is just part of the name.
一乗寺 賢
Ichijoui Ken
The first symbol means 'one'. (You'd have never guessed that know would you.) The second means 'get on' as in 'ride' and the final symbol of the famaly name is 'temple' so Ichijouji means 'first get on temple'. Ken which is one symbol long means 'clever'. Do I really need to state how that fits. According to a name website I found as I don't have the Kanji Osamu means either 'studious' or 'discipline'.

interesting, though some times japanese words can have more than one meaning too, Megchan knows a lot of japanese too, his/her site (don't know if Megchan is a girl or a guy) for digimon used to be the best one, sadly is closed now, you can visit it but it isn't getting updated anymore, you even could get all the discography of digimon from that site paying a fee of course.

I propably should have mentioned this but my Japanese teacher is Japanese.
Whilst Megchan's site closed down long before I got to the fandom, I don't doubt it's worth from the lyrics section. *sighs considering some of the things I've heard about the site*.
Anyway, there is of course alot more to the Chosen's names than just the meanings. For example Takeru and Yamato where supposed to be named after some samurai or something, I think. Wouldn't be surprised if you knew more than me. I'm currently doing some resreach into the idea that Osamu could be named after Takuza Osamu (it's fun. Means watching a reading lots of anime). To be honest I doubt that last one but watching loads of old anime is fun.

Well sometimes words can have more than one meaning, just like you said with Osamu that it means either 'studious' or 'discipline', so maybe some of the other names can have two meanings, maybe it also depends of how they're written? you know Katakana, Hiragana, Kanji.
So maybe it varies ^^

I did show my teacher the Kanji... though sometimes the kanji isn't available.
Did Megchan ever give a defintion of Jun's name by any chance? I've been looking for the kanji of that every where as aparnently it's one of the names that has the most different meanings.
Of course, the other reason why the defintions are different is that words translate differently. One of the first things my teacher asked my was whether or not they are names. With Iori's name I'm still not sure what my teacher meant. It might have been a type of cloth.
I'll see what I can do about showing the way kanji, katakana and hiragana works sometime... but right now... I've left this too late. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I've looked up japanese names to name people and (if memory serves me right) part of Takato's name means Forest(I want to say it's his first name). Rika means beautiful flower. It's kind of funny, considering her personality. But not weird considering her mom's personality. I've looked through too many names... Takuya means pioneer, how, to be. Last name, I'm not sure.

I'm typing this on computer tht's funny hence the lck of 'a's. Sorry.
katakana
This works by the each indivul symbols meen a sound for exmple: マダメ ビ力 ie. Madame Pika or ãƒä¸€ãƒ‰ パ夕 ie. Lord Pata
For Western nme's & new words like ゲデモン ie. digimon.
I may give everyone else's nme lter.
hiragana
This is lso in indivul symbols meen a sound for exmple: ã„ã¡ã” ie. strwberry. or ã†ã•ãŽ ie. rbbit.
theses re more trditionl. They re the first symbols tught if you lern the lnguege. If you don't know the kanji you should use hiragana.
kanji
This is the fmous one for being originlly chinese & hving other 2000 symbols tht meen either indivul words or prts of words.
I know bout 75.
lso the words meen different things for example:
æ—¥that meens sun. however it can lso be used to meen day
sunday is 日曜日
日本 meens Jpn Ie. Nihon, or sun origin.
In people names (non forgin/new) the knji shows the meening for sure.
Sorry gin bout the lck of good form. I cn't tke the good jpnese writing tool wy frm my friend's house. Sorry.

Thanks, very much.
However, as some like me can't do that for various reasons. I will later do this again by hand and scan it in.
Hopefully nothing will go wrong there.
What you have done is brilliant as my access to a scanner is limited.
By the way, using a computer where the letter 'a' works again is so nice.

Here are the meanings of each Digimon 01 and 02 Character's names, this got retrieved from Megchan's Digimon Sekai website. I love the fact you neglected to mention BenignUser off the DigiChallenge was the one who brought this too your attention- the proof being he posted this twelve days before you. Rejects.
