Patamon and Gatomon

Well, in my personal view I do think there is enough material for them to possible love each other more than friends, but also, there is the thing that since they're digimon maybe they must think that they would be doing something wrong and doesn't take the step because of that.

also and like another PataGato fan said on an old forum years ago which I quote, and as a heads up, he used Gatomon's japanese name Tailmon ^^

Why do I like Patamon and Tailmon as couple?

Simple, because they act as partners. They are almost always together, whether it's in battle or do nothing waiting on Hikari and Takeru to get out of school.

It's a rare battle that Tailmon and Patamon aren't fighting together in one form or another. I think Silphymon's first evolution came from the second battle that Patamon had no part of a fight that Tailmon was in since she first evolved to Angewomon. (The first being Angewomon verses Lady Devimon slap fest part 1.)

When nothing important is going on Patamon and Tailmon just sit around and talk about nothing. They are freely open to each other. Which is a major point considering Patamon is kind of shy, and Tailmon is reserved in dealing with others consider that she had been tortured by Vamdemon.

And here is another quote of this same fan that I agree with him fully, it talks in part about how that of Patamon being innocent is misunderstood:

It would be more correct to say Patamon APPEARS to be innocent. This little guy knows what it is like to kill, and has tried to kill at his level (I'm pretty sure he wanted Pico Devimon dead, not defeated).

I won't deny that Patamon has a child like innocence about him and, quite frankly, I think that is something that would attract Tailmon.

Tailmon, as we all know, was a servent of Vamdemon. She had her innocence beaten out of her. Patamon can act as a link to her days before meeting Vamdemon, a link to her own childhood. The fact that Patamon can maintain a child-like attitude without being completely innocent would be something she would actually envy in him.

This also serves to help Tailmon carry on after Wizarmon. Even if they had only just been friends, Wizarmon had been an important part in her life. He use to act as her protector, but with Patamon, it's Tailmon that is the protector. By taking that role in the relationship, Tailmon is keeping part of her fond memories of Wizarmon alive by following his example. It also helps set aside any guilt that Tailmon might have in 'replacing' Wizarmon with someone else.

Also the fact that the two have known each other for quite a while and a part of me thinks that Patamon was there for Gatomon the most after Wizardmon died I loved Wizardmon dont get me wrong but Gatomon and Wizardmon have a different relationship which is really cute as well

Yeah, you're right on that, I always have thought that Patamon understood Wizardmon's motives to give his life for Gatomon and Kari better than anyone else ^^

I think that if they don't remain best friends, they could easily be lovers. I've recently been rewatching season 1 and from what I can see it seems like a nice enough pairing.

yup yup, I think that during the time span of 3 years between the events of 01 and 02, Patamon and Gatomon got to know each other really well since unlike TK who was living away and didn't moved to Odaiba till the beginning of 02, the digimon remained together so they got to know each other really hence how in 02 they most time were hanging together and even danced ^^

The following screenshot I will show, is from the episode where Yolei got her second digiegg, it was when TK offered himself and Kari to search Digitamamon (which by the way he didn't even asked her at all if she wanted to go XD)



this scene is when they nod at each other after TK's offer to go to search Digitamamon, I like the way they're looking at each other smiling, it sure showed how they enjoy a lot each other's company ^^

Now back on topic I want to point something interesting about Pata and Gato and it comes on this picture:



even unconsious they can't be away from each other XD

That screenshot was when the digimon on their armor forms tried to fight Kimeramon but Kimeramon blasted them all, Digmon, Halsemon and Raidramon dedigivolved all the way back to their in-training forms, but oddly enough Nefertimon and Pegasusmon only returned to Gatomon and Patamon, and ended both unconsious over that box you see on the screenshot.

It is funny how some screenshots can give you interesting things to comment XD

That all is pretty interesting. I think that Patamon and Gatomon are finally getting to be more like the rest of the season 1 digimon. Much more experienced and stronger. It seems they can withstand a fight more now.
